Toronto well represented at the JCC Maccabi Games in Israel! On July 5th 31 athletes and 5 coaches boarded a plane bound for Israel to participate in a once in a lifetime experience at the JCC Maccabi Games. On arrival they were met by 10 Israeli teenage Basketball players who would join together with 10 players from our delegation to create 2 Basketball teams that were comprised of athletes from both Toronto and Eilat.
Intense competition was featured from all our participating athletes, and after a week of hard fought games, we came away with Gold Medals in both 15U and 17U Basketball, as well as a Bronze Medal in 17U Basketball.
We were also fortunate enough to have the opportunity to send athletes who joined other teenagers from around the world to create mixed teams in 17U Ice Hockey, 17U Flag Football, and 15U Basketball.
Following the completion of the games late last week, athletes from delegation began a 2 week tour across Israel which will allow them to visit many historical sites and have an opportunity to take in the beautiful landscape of the country.
